Freedom - What is it?
And the
Scripture says, "Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you
FREE."
Interesting
concept behind two words in that verse, truth and free. Do you know
the truth and are you free? Pilot once asked, "what is truth?" No
reply was given accept to say that "I am the way the truth and the
life". But do you know the truth? Have you found the way? Do you
have the life?
Let's go back
to the Garden with our friends Adam and Eve. They had it all! Great
place to live, all the food they needed for sustenance, most likely
a great climate as they didn't need any clothing. They could go
anywhere they wanted within the garden. But were they free? I
contend that they were not as they had to abide by a certain rule
that God gave them. A rule that if they broke, would land them in
deep cow dung. So even at creation, they were not completely free.
It was limited. Limited to within the Garden and limited by the one
law that God gave them. They only had ONE law to abide by and even
that was too much for them to obey. They wanted more. They wanted
knowledge and with that knowledge, freedom. Freedom from the
oppression of the law of God. So they rebelled. Broke the law and
God shipped them out of the Garden into a land that would bring them
more laws than they ever dreamed of.
Read your
Scriptures and tell me if anyone was ever "free". "Am I my brother's
keeper", asked Cain? He didn't want to be tied down to taking care
of his brother. He wanted to be free of the shackles and so he killed
Able.
Fast forward to
the Israelites. Man did they ever get themselves deep into bondage.
Moses cried, "let my people go". Give us freedom. Freedom to go
worship our God in the wilderness. And so they got what they wanted,
only to lose it a short time later in having to wonder around for 40
years. Freedom, such an elusive thing!
So are you free
now that you know Who HE IS? Or are you still in bondage to
something? But what is that something?
Well you may
say that I am free from sin as Jesus paid it all for all. So I don't
have to worry about that bondage. mmmm, yeah, you could say that.
All your so-called short comings have been dealt with and you need
no longer worry about having to pay a debt in that regards. But what
about all the rest of your debts? All the debts you owe to the rest
of the world. Debts, like your mortgage, car payments, credit cards,
ad-infinitum? What about those? Does not Scripture state to owe no
man anything, but to love him. Yet we place ourselves in bondage everytime we owe something to someone. In particular to the banks.
They love us when we owe. So I owe, I owe, it's off to work I
go. We take a job (Just Over Bankruptcy) to pay
on the debt we owe that the Lord said not to have. I will come back
to this later.
Now what is
truth? Well Pilot asked a very good question. Do you know the
answer. He did not ask WHO is truth, but what is truth. And the
truth is, in this realm, there is no truth. Why? Because when Adam
was put to sleep, Scripture does not reveal that he ever woke up. So
is Adam (flesh) still asleep and living in a dream world? Or is the
Spiritual Adam awake and living in reality? Which one are you living
in right NOW? Are you in the Matrix or in the "real world"? If you
think about it, the illusion looks better that the real world of
Neo's. So what is the truth of the matter?
The truth of
the matter, is that, the only truth is in the Spirit and unless you
can cross over into that realm, like Jesus did, you know not the
truth. You will only find the truth when you leave your physical
body realm. It is your body (the flesh) that hinders your ability to
see the real world. Gotta die before you live!
So now that we
understand that unless you are living as Spirit, you are relegated
to this realm which has laws, jurisdictions, rules and regulations
that control you and keep you in bondage. A wise man once said: "you
will either govern yourself or you will be governed." You will
either self regulate yourself with your own laws, or you will be
held to laws that are dictated by others. No different than the
Israelites of old.
I looked up the
word freedom in the dictionary and here is what it said:
free·dom
[free-duhm]
–noun
1. the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint: He won his freedom after a retrial.
2. exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc.
3. the power to determine action without restraint.
4. political or national independence.
5. personal liberty, as opposed to bondage or slavery: a slave who bought his freedom.
6. exemption from the presence of anything specified (usually fol. by from ): freedom from fear.
7. the absence of or release from ties, obligations, etc.
8. ease or facility of movement or action: to enjoy the freedom of living in the country.
9. frankness of manner or speech.
10. general exemption or immunity: freedom from taxation.
11. the absence of ceremony or reserve.
12. a liberty taken.
13. a particular immunity or privilege enjoyed, as by a city or corporation: freedom to levy taxes.
14. civil liberty, as opposed to subjection to an arbitrary or despotic government.
15. the right to enjoy all the privileges or special rights of citizenship, membership, etc., in a community or the like.
16. the right to frequent, enjoy, or use at will: to have the freedom of a friend's library.
17. Philosophy . the power to exercise choice and make decisions without constraint from within or without; autonomy; self-determination. Compare necessity ( def. 7 )
Have you
attained all those? I think not. So if we know the truth, why are we
not free from all the bondages of this world? Because freedom cannot
be attained here. you are in hell. Hell is just a covering over,
like helling the potatoes. Placing dirt over the growing spud. Just
the same way as your dirty body covers your spirit.
But can you be
a little free in this world?
Well my
friends, that depends on how much "freedom" you wish and what you
will do to get it.
My wife and I
are somewhat free in this realm. We don't have a home to live in. I
don't have a job and I am now on pension. And that ain't a whole
heck of a lot. We don't have any credit cards and pay everything in
debt cash money. Hell I'm "free". We have an old truck and camper
that is paid for, but even that we don't own as the Province has
legal title to it. Just as your government bodies have legal title
to everything you think you own, including your home, car,
motorcycle, boat, etc. You think you own it because you live in it,
you drive it and you paid it off. It is in your possession and
possession is nine tenths of the law. Ah, there's that bondage
again. Who owns the other one tenth?
The problem is
you do not have legal title to your home or car. Someone else has.
Why? Because you willingly gave it over to them. And here is
some truth you may not be aware of, while I am on the subject.
When you were
born, your parents abandoned you into slavery when they filled out
your record of birth and you were issued a birth certificate. You
were made a child of the Crown of England (yes even those of you who
live in the US)and the Crown hired your
parents to take care of you until you reached the age of maturity,
which is 18 or until you received your own SSN or SIN numbers which
placed you personally into another type of slavery.
Ever wonder
why, if you ever spanked the child and someone called Child
Services, that they could take away the child without being charged
with kidnapping? Ever wonder why, if your car was towed away, the
tow truck company was not charged with grand theft auto? Ever wonder
why, if after you have completely paid off your home but failed to
pay your house taxes, you could lose it for next to nothing? Because
none of them are yours.
The child
belongs to the Crown and they are just taking back their possession
when you failed to obey their rules and regulations as to how to
take care of the Crowns property. The car belongs to the State or
Province because you registered it. When you register something you
give legal title to the registrar. Then you have to obey their rules
and regulations or they will take back their vehicle until you pay
the fine. Ah, freedom. Remember the line from Me and Bobbie McGee :
"Freedom's just another
word for nothin' left to lose"
Is freedom just
another word for you? In this earthly realm, none of us are free. We
may be rich and be able to buy anything we desire, travel anywhere
we want, but we are all, rich and poor alike, bound by laws that
inhibit our complete freedom.
The question
is...how much "freedom" are you willing to give up, to be free?
I leave
you with this: "There is no such thing as part freedom" -
Nelson Mandela
